Tourist destination Mukteshwar

Mukteshwar is a town and tourist destination in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand in India. Mukteshwar sits high in the Kumaon Hills, 51 km from Nainital, 42 km from Haldwani, and 395 km from Delhi. Mukteshwar is rich in scenic beauty, with awesome picturesque of the Indian Himalayas including India's second-highest peak, Nanda Devi.



Prime Attractions of Mukteshwar are

Mukteshwar Temple- This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. The temple is designed with a white marble lingam with a copper yoni. There are six idols of Bramha, Vishnu, Parvati, Hanuman, Ganesh and Nandi surrounding the lingam.

Chauli Ka Jali- Adjacent to the temple there is natural lattice-work around the rock. It is said that barren women who came and touched the lattice were blessed with a baby.

Indian Veterinary Research Institute is also worth seeing but you have to take permission before entering this institute. The campus has a museum, library and departments for research, animal nutrition, genetics and bacteriology.

The nearest airport is at Pantnagar to hang on to this place, and nearest railway head is at Kathgodam, 35 km from the town, from where vehicular transport is easily available, as from neighbouring towns of Bhimtal, Bhowali, and Nainital.
